Chestermere Water Festival
It’s time to get wet Calgary at the Chestermere Water Festival on July 16, 2016 at John Peake Park. Chestermere, originally named Chestermere Lake, is largely a bedroom community east of Calgary. At Century Roofing Limited, we’re proud to serve our fellow Albertans throughout the region – including a little fun. With festival season here there’s a lot to choose from, but if you haven’t purchased Stampede tickets or if you’ve had enough of the hustle and bustle it brings with cowboys and tourists alike, why not take time and escape to the lake?
The day begins at 9 am as Water Ski Wakeboard Alberta (WSWA) hosts the Water Festival Wakeboarding Competition on the north side of the Lake. Registration is online up to midnight on Thursday July 14, 2016 with the pre-registration fee being $20 plus WSWA family membership which is $40. Registration day of event is $30 plus family membership. Registration starts at 8:15 am.
Other full-day events include EPCOR Kids Fun Zone. This includes a host of fun activities, including a Pirate Bounce House, a Pirate Obstacle Course, and Captain Jack’s Performance at 1:30 pm, as well as face painting. Visit the various vendors at the Artisan Market and Food Truck Line. Beginning at noon, there will be lake tours at the Chestermere Landing Dockside Marina at the Hyperactive Watersports Boat House running every 20 minutes. Rides are $5/person and they’re accepting donations for the Chestermere Food Bank. These events wrap up at 4 pm with the Rubber Duck Race at Rainbow Falls. Registration is $5 and all proceeds support Synergy – Chestermere’s youth leadership development organization.
For those seeking more ‘adult’ activities, the Summer Music Showcase starts at 1 pm with the National Band Naval Reserve, a 30-piece marching band performing in front of the stage in the common area, and concluding with Albertan country rocker Drew Gregory at 9:30 pm. Then there’s a Beer Garden hosted by the Chestermere Lions Club - bar closes at 10 pm and two pieces of identification are requested for proof of age. The festival ends at 10:30 pm with a bang with fireworks rising from a floating barge on the north side of the lake.
