Dealing with the Aftermath of Chestermere's Mid-July Storms

The July 12th and July 14th storms poured buckets of rain and hail onto Chestermere streets. Social media was abuzz with images of penny-sized hail and roads that had suddenly turned into rivers.

It is estimated that 225 millimetres of rain fell during the first storm, most of it in the early morning. Around 300 homes were affected by the resultant flooding, and three homes caught fire after being struck by lightning. Chestermere had just one day to deal with flood waters and power outages before another extreme downpour covered streets in ice and knee-deep water.
