It’s Stampede Time!
It’s that time of year when Calgary welcomes the world for the 2016 Calgary Stampede from July 8 through July 17, 2016. Whether you love or hate the turmoil a big event like this can have on the city and even different communities within Calgary, there’s no denying the economic and social benefits of this “not-for-profit community organization that preserves and celebrates western heritage, cultures, and community spirit” driven core by the core values of western hospitality, integrity, pride of place, and commitment to the community.
At Century Roofing Limited, we understand how hectic things can seem when your world is out of order – like when you’re experiencing a concern with your home’s exterior like chinook damage or you simply need a new roof from the wear and tear of Calgary weather. Since 1981, we’ve earned the respect of Calgarians, being recognized as a preferred roofing contractor of so many insurance companies. Like the volunteers who keep the Stampede tidy for visitors, we arrive on time, are efficient during installations and repairs, and we keep your premises tidy, staying dedicated to your vision and instructions – and budget.
Like that feeling of accomplishment from a job well done, or overcoming a disaster, Canadians, and especially Albertans, during Stampede season know how to and deserve to have a good time. And while the hard times are still here for some, in this celebration there is hope.
That hope and looking forward was captured in Calgary’s proclaiming 2016 the Year of Music. “There are so many amazing music-related events scheduled in 2016 that it became clear we needed take the full year to celebrate,” says Calgary Mayor Naheed K. Nenshi.
The Calgary Stampede, in honour of the city’s “Year of Music” celebration, selected singer-songwriter Jann Arden and home-grown country music superstar Paul Brandt as the Calgary Stampede Parade Marshals. This year, the Calgary Stampede will include a special parade entry to recognize the collective effort of the women and men who courageously and selflessly supported the Fort McMurray and Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo wildfire response. When the floods hit Calgary and southern Alberta in 2013, it was important to recognize the collective effort and dedication of the first responders. This year, the passionate volunteers who make up the Stampede Parade committee want to do the same for women and men involved in the Wildfire response. The parade begins at 9 am on Friday, July 8.
