The Okotoks Picnic

Century Roofing Limited is a Calgary, Alberta roofing and exterior/siding contractor that has completed projects throughout Central and Southern Alberta and Eastern British Columbia. Okotoks is one of those communities, situated on the Sheep River, approximately 18 km south of Calgary.

Since 1981, our family-owned roofing company has served the residents of the communities we serve with dedicated, honest, and reliable roofing services and an array of exterior repair services, including maintenance to siding, soffit and fascia, and eavestroughs in achieving a “preferred contractor” status with the insurance companies. As neighbours, we like to support our neighbours in sharing some of the fun family events that our family and staff look forward to each year.

In Okotoks, it’s the Teddy Bear Picnic and Family Resource Fair on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 from 10 am to 1 pm. It’s a free community event for children ages 2-10, their favourite stuffed animal, and their parents too. The picnic helps to connect families with local support and service groups in the Foothills. Children and parents learn about the many services available to support families. And it’s a picnic so bring your lunch or snack or purchase food onsite. All responsible adults must be accompanied by a child.

Sherri Mullen, Okotoks Healthy Family Resource Centre Coordinator, noted in an OkotoksOnline.com article that the 2015 event at the Murray Arena was a success.

“We've had a lot of families come through for the Teddy Bear Picnic,” said Mullen. “Everyone had a great time and we’re delighted with the services that provided activities and information for the families in our community.”

Children were happy showing off their stuffed animals and joining in on the fun. Aside from enjoying picnic lunches, children could get their faces painted, play games, run an obstacle course, and bring their stuffed animals to see the veterinarian. Organizers are planning for a similar success so bring out the kids and enjoy connecting and learning.

Donations will gratefully be accepted at the door for the Okotoks Family Resource Centre’s Emergency Assistance program to help residents in financial need. In 2014, the program provided approximately $4,000 in financial assistance to residents in need.
